These Terms and Conditions ("Agreement") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User") and CarCostBreakdown.com ("Company", "we", "us", "our") governing your access to and use of the website located at carcostbreakdown.com and all associated tools, content, and services (collectively, the "Service").

• Car tier cost guides for 8 budget categories: Beater Budget ($1K–$5K), Budget ($5K–$15K), Budget Reliable ($15K–$25K), Mid-Range ($25K–$40K), New Mid-Range ($40K–$60K), Luxury ($60K–$100K), Used Mid-Range, and Exotic/Hypercar ($1M+)
• EV vs Gas comparison tools with fuel savings calculators and government incentive data
• Global car cost data for 60+ countries with live exchange rate conversion
• An embeddable calculator widget for third-party websites
• Educational blog content about car ownership costs, financing, and depreciation

Our calculator uses automated data pipelines that update on the following schedules: exchange rates (daily), fuel prices (daily), BLS transportation CPI (daily), NHTSA recall data (weekly), and EV government incentives (weekly). World Bank supplemental data updates monthly.

All services are provided free of charge. No account registration is required. The Company reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time without notice.

3.1 The Company uses automated data pipelines to collect and update information from multiple third-party sources including the U.S. Energy Information Administration, World Bank, NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), IRS, BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics), and various government EV incentive programme databases. While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee that all data is current, complete, or error-free.

3.2 All calculator outputs are statistical estimates based on aggregated data and mathematical models. They represent typical costs for a hypothetical average user and do not account for individual circumstances including but not limited to: specific geographic location within a country, individual driving behaviour, vehicle-specific condition or history, negotiated insurance or financing rates, or local market variations.

3.3 Fuel prices are updated daily from public APIs but may lag real-time pump prices. NHTSA recall data reflects publicly available government records. EV incentive amounts reflect government programme data at the time of our last update and are subject to legislative change.

3.4 The Company expressly disclaims any warranty that calculator results will match actual costs incurred by any specific user for any specific vehicle.

3.5 Users should treat all outputs as a starting point for research, not as definitive financial projections. Independent verification from qualified professionals is strongly recommended before making any purchasing or financial decision.

As a condition of using the Service, you agree to:

4.1 Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

4.2 Not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the calculator or any component of the Service.

4.3 Not use automated tools, bots, scrapers, or crawlers to access the Service at a rate that places unreasonable burden on our infrastructure, or to systematically extract data for commercial purposes.

4.4 Not misrepresent our data, calculator results, or content as your own proprietary research or analysis.

4.5 Not use the Service to transmit spam, malware, or any content that is illegal, defamatory, or harmful.

4.6 Not circumvent any security measures or access controls on the Service.

5.1 We provide an embeddable calculator widget that third parties may embed on their websites at no charge. The widget provides the full CarCostBreakdown.com car cost calculator experience within an iframe.

5.2 By embedding the widget, you agree to: display it without modification, not remove or obscure any branding or attribution, not use it in a context that is misleading, illegal, or harmful, and comply with all applicable laws regarding the content on your website.

5.3 We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the embed service at any time. We are not responsible for any disruption to your website caused by changes to the widget.

5.4 The widget is provided "as is" without warranty. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the widget on your website.

6.1 All content, code, data compilations, cost models, design elements, trademarks, and logos on the Service are owned by or licensed to CarCostBreakdown.com and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

6.2 You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes only.

6.3 This licence does not include the right to: sublicense, sell, or commercially exploit the Service or its content; create derivative works; systematically download or cache content; or use data mining or similar data gathering tools.

6.4 Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you provide about the Service may be used by us without obligation to you.

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in our Privacy Policy.

Key points: We do not require account creation. We do not sell personal data. We use Google Analytics for anonymous traffic analysis. We do not store individual calculator results on our servers. All calculator inputs are processed in your browser.

8.2 THE COMPANY DOES NOT WARRANT THAT: (A) THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS; (B) THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE; (C) THE RESULTS OBTAINED FROM USE OF THE SERVICE WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE; OR (D) ANY ERRORS IN THE SERVICE WILL BE CORRECTED.

8.3 THE COMPANY IS NOT A FINANCIAL ADVISOR, INSURANCE BROKER, OR AUTOMOTIVE PROFESSIONAL. NOTHING ON THE SERVICE CONSTITUTES FINANCIAL, INSURANCE, LEGAL, OR PROFESSIONAL ADVICE.

8.4 RELIANCE ON ANY INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE SERVICE IS SOLELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

9.1 TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE COMPANY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

9.2 THIS LIMITATION APPLIES REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY (CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE) AND EVEN IF THE COMPANY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

9.3 IN NO EVENT SHALL THE COMPANY'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS EXCEED ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100).

9.4 SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY. IN SUCH JURISDICTIONS, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE GREATEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Company and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights; or (d) any content you submit or transmit through the Service.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the federal or state courts located in the United States, and you hereby consent to personal jurisdiction and venue therein.

For users in the European Union: Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under applicable EU consumer protection laws.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining Terms remain in full force and effect.

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.
